Why am I using an AI music generator?
My Answer:
A lifelong frustration culminating in a moment in time when I finally did something to alleviate the insanity.
I was browsing Nostr…… Another question and answer is needed, just in case.
What is Nostr?
Answer:
Nostr (Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays) is a decentralized, censorship-resistant communication protocol that allows users to send and receive messages without a central authority, using a network of independent servers called “relays” and public-key cryptography for identity. It’s not a single app, but an open standard for building applications (clients) like social media, enabling user-controlled data, content moderation via blocking, and built-in Bitcoin micropayments (“zaps”) via the Lightning Network.

I was browsing Nostr and viewed a note that had a ‘Zap Yourself’ reference. My mind went into overdrive. Out popped a poem, which was soon to become a song. It was all for a bit of a laugh. What to do next? I cannot sing well. I can barely play the piano – even after 4 or so years of lessons, and I don’t have access to a music studio, or a band to play my song. I won’t mention the money side of it.
I checked out AI music online. First of all I used UDIO. I made two tracks on there. Then I went to download them. Not a chance. I searched and discovered that they had entered an agreement with UMG. All the music stays on the site. I’ll leave it to you to search that out if you want to learn more.
Next I found Easy Music AI, easymusic.ai, an AI Music Generator.
So I had a go. I was suprised at how easy it was to get a basic track, and vocals, wrapped around my lyrics. I was delighted, actually. So the first track went out on Nostr. It was at first a poem aimed at Mr Nathan Day. It started here on Nostr. Then it escalated into a song. It was called Zapstabator – Go Zap Yourself. Listen on Wavlake. And on Fountain.

The next song was to another bit of a gentle piss-take. This song was aimed directly at Derek Ross. The song is called Pura Vida (Derek Ross). Listen here on Wavlake.

I then went into a frenzy of creativity. My lyrics are not for everyones taste. I’m not claiming to be a genius, or anything at all. I’m just doing stuff. Everything has its own pros and cons. I am essentially making it for myself. But it is out there for all to listen to, or not. That is how the world should be.

So what’s next?
First of all. Without the AI Music Generator I would still be a note scribbler. I have boxes of pages, notebooks, writing pads, scraps of paper, etc, here there and everywhere. Poems and lyrics galore. I would not have any lyrics put to music, or vocals. That may please some. But it is waht it is now. I’m quite chuffed.
I enjoyed the experience. And the chance to, after many decades of frustration, listening to my lyrics in an actual song. What I found most interesting was the adaptability of the AI system. You are able to generate different styles of songs using the same lyrics. A rock song. A folk song. A heavy Metal song. It does not always sound great, but you can keep playing about until you get what you want.
I rushed everything. My free time is in short supply as I have a lot coming up in the real world. So over a few days I managed to publish 65 tracks onto the Wavlake platform. Many are re-hashes of the same lyrics. There are all sorts of mistakes in them. Passable though, in my opinion. Nothing’s perfect.
The purists will call it shite. Even the average Joe will call it shite. That’s OK by me. That’s reality. And it is a good reality. As of today 45% of listeners are in the USA. I got a few Zaps of encouragement, which is much appreciated.

For the uninitiated, a Zap is when someone sends you some Bitcoin Sats as a tip. There are 100 Million Sats in One Whole Bitcoin. Most Zaps will be 21 (approx 2 cents) but some can be much larger. All Zaps are sent over the Lightning Network.
ZAPS are great as they cut out the middleman. No big corporations controlling the music, the money, or the artist. Decentralised, open source, and free to use.
